The Millington Trojans boys and girls golf teams participated at the Shelby County Tournament held at Fox Meadows earlier this month.

Grace Bell, Makenna Jenkins and Ally Westmoreland led the Lady Trojans to a second place team finish while Andrew Hendren, Will Howard, Aiden Leem, Andrew Westmoreland and Matthew Westmoreland led the Trojans to a third place team finish.

Matthew Westmoreland was the medalist for the boys with a 3-under 68 and his brother Andrew was second with a 1-under 70.

Then on Sept. 20, the Millington Trojan Golf teams were eyeing repeat district championships. The Trojans boys and girls golf teams wrapped up another district golf title, the second straight title for the boys’ team and the third in the last four years for the girls’ team.

The Trojans consisted of Andrew Westmoreland, Matthew Westmoreland and Andrew Hendren and the Lady Trojans were Ally Westmoreland, Grace Bell and Emma Washington.

Not only did the Trojans win the team titles but they had a stranglehold on the individual titles as well with a one-two finish for both the boys and girls. Ally Westmoreland was the medalist on the girls’ side and Grace Bell was second while Andrew Westmoreland finished as the medalist and Matthew Westmoreland was second on the boys’ side.

The Trojans advanced to Regionals Friday at Glen Eagle in Millington. Once Regionals were completed, three Millington golfers earned a spot at the upcoming State Tournament in Murfreesboro. All three Westmoreland siblings will travel to the championships.
